About Us

The “Lexington Stories: Unsung Heroes” project is being co-sponsored by The Humanitarium and the Lexington Arts & Cultural Council (newly renamed “LexArts”). The goal of the project is to honor people who have made a difference, past and present to the community.

A team of jurors will choose 12 Lexingtonians from all of the nominations to be named "unsung heroes." Those 12 heroes will be honored with Blythe Jamison photographs to be shown in both a gallery exhibit, as well as, several traveling community and school displays.

The chosen profiles will be exhibited alongside the portraits. We welcome nominations from all of Lexington’s citizens coming from our diverse communities.

Joseph Beth booksellers will be holding a wine and cheese celebration for all nominees on December 9, 2005. Joseph Beth has also agreed to give each winning “hero” a $50.00 gift certificate and each winning nominator a $25.00 gift certificate to be presented at the ArtsPlace grand opening of the portrait exhibit at Gallery Hop on September 15th, 2006).

Finalists will be notified by mail. Final submissions will be edited for length, grammar, and/or content. All submissions become the property of The Humanitarium. For more info, please contact us at 859-254-5055 or humanitarium@qx.net
